Technical Director

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is looking for a senior Technical Director to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and drive business development for high‑value projects, including luxury residential, hospitality and island developments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the strategic vision, aligning departmental goals with overall business objectives.
• Provide technical oversight on projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and the highest quality standards.
• Lead the validation of RIBA 4/IFT/IFC designs and coordinate contractor shop‑drawing approvals.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, resources and change‑control processes to ensure profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in building services, architectural, mechanical or electrical engineering; Master’s and/or Chartered status preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of post‑graduate engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in business development and winning new work.
• Experience in luxury residential, hospitality and island development projects.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of building services systems and industry standards.
• Expertise in multidisciplinary coordination and design processes (RIBA stages, LOD levels).
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
