Technical Project Manager

About the role

The Technical Project Manager leads the multidisciplinary technical function of large‑scale construction projects, ensuring that engineering, architectural, structural and MEP works are reviewed, coordinated and executed in line with contract documents and design intent. The role requires strong engineering judgment to evaluate contractor proposals, resolve technical issues and manage design changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical review of shop drawings, material submissions, RFIs, calculations, method statements and specialist contractor submissions.
• Evaluate contractor design proposals, value‑engineering submissions and alternative solutions while maintaining compliance with contract documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews across Architecture, Structure, Civil, Infrastructure, MEP and specialist systems.
• Identify design deficiencies, constructability issues, coordination conflicts and technical risks before implementation.
• Facilitate technical workshops and resolve interface issues between consultants, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assess impact of design changes on safety, functionality, operation, maintenance, programming and cost.
• Provide technical guidance to Resident Engineers, discipline engineers and inspectors.
• Review temporary works proposals for technical adequacy and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications and codes.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments and formal correspondence.
• Support the Project Director in resolving complex technical issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years post‑graduate engineering experience, including at least 8 years in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical Engineer role.
• Experience on large mixed‑use developments, shopping malls, high‑rise buildings, hotels or similar mega projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary technical reviews during construction.
• Experience coordinating with international consultants, specialist subcontractors and authorities, preferably in the GCC (Saudi Arabia).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering; Master’s in Engineering or Construction Management is desirable.
• Membership of the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) or an equivalent recognized professional engineering body.
