Assistant Boat Captain

About the role

The Assistant Boat Captain supports the Boat Captain in delivering safe, efficient, and memorable marine experiences for GALAXEA’s guests across the Red Sea. Working closely with the marine crew, dive and watersports teams, you will help navigate vessels, manage guest transfers, and ensure compliance with maritime regulations and company safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Boat Captain with vessel navigation, manoeuvring, docking, anchoring and mooring.
• Operate the vessel when authorised, following all certification and company requirements.
• Participate in voyage planning, route preparation and monitoring of sea and weather conditions.
• Maintain navigation systems, charts, communication equipment and ensure accurate position reporting.
• Coordinate crew activities, guest transfers and support water‑sports operations.
• Conduct pre‑departure equipment checks, routine maintenance and documentation of vessel readiness.
• Support environmental protection measures and continuous improvement of marine operations.
• Respond decisively to routine and emergency situations, prioritising safety at all times.

Required profile

• Relevant maritime certification (e.g., STCW, boat licence) and proven experience in vessel operations.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, guest‑focused environment and handle physical demands of marine work.
• Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and holidays as required by operational schedules.
