Assistant Consultant – Pediatric Hematology & Oncology (Stem Cell Transplant)

About the role

The Assistant Consultant will support senior consultants in delivering comprehensive care for children with hematologic malignancies, undergoing stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. The role includes direct patient management, on‑call duties, and participation in academic and research activities within the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assist consultants in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and follow‑up for pediatric hematology‑oncology and stem cell transplantation cases.
• Provide on‑call coverage for the specialty on evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Supervise and train interns, residents and fellows, and contribute to departmental teaching programmes.
• Participate in clinical, basic and translational research projects and publish findings.
• Undertake administrative duties, serve on committees and help implement resource‑optimisation initiatives.
• Document clinical findings, progress notes and orders in the electronic medical record.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized school and completion of postgraduate training with Saudi, American, Canadian or UK board certification.
• 2–4 years of experience in pediatric hematology‑oncology and stem cell transplantation.
• Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of latest techniques and guidelines in the specialty.
