Automation Engineer (Control Systems)

About the role

Maaden is seeking an Automation Engineer (Control Systems) to support its Aluminum Business Unit in Ras al Khair. The role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime and material throughput by designing, maintaining, and improving process control systems across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic engineering support for equipment automation, selecting optimal control algorithms and applying Maaden‑approved control code.
• Interpret P&ID, single‑line, network, and instrument drawings to configure and troubleshoot control systems.
• Maintain and modify PLC programs (ladder logic, function block, structured text) and ensure reliable operation of variable speed drives, motion control systems, and robots.
• Analyze historical process data using advanced tools and follow disaster‑recovery procedures to restore control devices and data.
• Support and diagnose plant control network topologies, including industrial Ethernet, device‑level ring, and serial communication protocols.
• Participate in failure‑mode and reliability engineering analyses, root‑cause investigations, and recommendations to eliminate repetitive failures.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of diagnostics instruments and IP‑connected devices.
• Experience with variable speed drives, network‑connected drives, motion control, and robotic systems.
• Ability to work rotating shifts to support plant operations.
• Proficiency in interpreting functional specifications and performing data‑driven analysis.
