Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with internal policies. This role works closely with the Finance Business Partner and Assistant Director of Finance to deliver timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the General Ledger (G/L) and Sub Ledgers (S/L), including accounts receivable and payable.
• Prepare monthly recurring journal vouchers for standard, prepaid, and accrued expenses.
• Review payroll calculations, post labor expense journals, and calculate related taxes and benefits.
• Balance G/L and S/L monthly, reconciling all accounts and verifying details.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and complete all journal entries to produce the trial balance.
• Submit financial reports and closing summaries for review and approval.
• Provide guidance on accounting processes and advise management on improvements.
• Assist with physical counts of fixed assets and inventories, and support tax calculations and payments.
• Prepare documentation for internal and external auditors.
