Chief Accountant (Saudi National)

About the role

Saudi Gold Refinery is seeking a Saudi national to lead its financial reporting and control functions for mining and refining operations. Reporting to the CFO, the Chief Accountant will ensure accurate financial statements, compliance with ZATCA regulations, and proper valuation of precious‑metal inventories.

Key responsibilities

• Manage monthly and annual financial close processes in accordance with IFRS.
• Oversee reconciliation of precious‑metal inventories (dore and bullion) with physical vault and assay data.
• Ensure full compliance with ZATCA regulations, including VAT, Zakat, and withholding tax filings.
• Act as primary liaison for external auditors and regulatory inspectors.
• Maintain and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
• Supervise the accounting team (AP, AR, GL) and support their professional development.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial systems and processes.
• Manage relationships with ZATCA, banks, and insurance providers.
• Support the CFO in budgeting and financial planning activities.

Required profile

• Saudi national.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience with ZATCA regulations, VAT and Zakat compliance.
• Inventory accounting for precious metals.
• Audit coordination and external auditor liaison.
• Implementation of internal controls.
• Financial close and reporting expertise.
