Costing Engineer – EPC Piping Projects

About the role

The Costing Engineer will prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for EPC piping projects, supporting the Costing & Design Department. The role collaborates closely with engineering, sales, logistics and proposal teams to deliver technically sound and commercially optimized quotations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse project requirements and interpret technical drawings, including AutoCAD, isometrics and P&IDs.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and develop pricing in line with company costing methodologies.
• Use SAP (SD/MM) and Excel for cost modelling, rate database management and quotation generation.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Logistics and Finance to ensure quotations are technically feasible and commercially viable.
• Maintain confidentiality of pricing information and ensure delivery within tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 1‑4 years of experience in cost estimation, costing engineering or proposal engineering.
• Experience with piping systems (GRP, GRE, GRV, steel) in EPC projects for oil & gas, water, desalination or petrochemical sectors.
• Ability to read AutoCAD drawings, piping isometrics and P&IDs and extract accurate quantities.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Arabic is a plus.

• Understanding of piping materials, pressure classes and jointing methods.
