Derrickhand – Mud System Specialist (Saudi Arabia)

About the role

The Derrickhand is responsible for the mud system and associated equipment on the rig, ensuring safe and efficient drilling operations. This role involves hands‑on monitoring, maintenance, and supervision of floorhands while adhering to H&P safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor mud pumps, perform exchanges of expendable items, and maintain pump equipment.
• Lock out and tag out mud‑system equipment during repairs.
• Analyze drilling fluid condition, manage mud tank levels, and oversee solids‑control equipment.
• Direct roughnecks and roustabouts during mud‑system repairs and maintenance.
• Report fluid volume, flow, temperature, contamination, and equipment status to the driller.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals and fluids for drilling‑fluid treatment.
• Service overhead equipment in the mast, perform visual inspections from rig floor to crown, and ensure well‑control equipment readiness.

Required profile

• Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and H&P applications.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to H&P core values and health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work at heights on the derrick.
