Design Manager (Mechanical)

About the role

The Design Manager – Mechanical leads the mechanical engineering design function across large‑scale hospitality and leisure projects. You will ensure technical excellence, compliance with codes and standards, and delivery of innovative solutions while managing multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical design activities from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Develop, review and approve engineering deliverables, specifications, calculations, reports and drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and process disciplines.
• Manage design schedules, resource allocation and engineering budgets to meet project milestones.
• Conduct technical reviews, design audits and value‑engineering studies.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and performance management for engineers and designers.
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities on technical matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 10‑15 years of mechanical engineering design experience, including leadership on large hospitality or leisure projects.
• Strong knowledge of international engineering codes, standards and best practices.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams and complex projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engineering design software and mechanical engineering tools.
• In‑depth understanding of HVAC, piping, utility systems, rotating equipment and mechanical packages.
