Field Operator

About the role

The HYCO Field Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day field operation of a hydrogen production facility located at a refinery in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the DCS Operator and Shift Supervisor, the role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Steam Methane Reformer, Shift Converters, CO2 Removal and Compression, Methanator, PSA, Tail Gas Compression, Membrane Unit and associated utilities.
• Perform routine equipment checks, startup and shutdown procedures, and first‑line troubleshooting.
• Maintain safety documentation, follow PPE, LOTO, permit‑to‑work, and emergency shutdown (ESD) procedures.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and OPHR compliance.
• Act as a certified first responder for plant emergencies, including fire, gas leaks, and ESD events.

Required profile

• Experience in field operation of hydrogen or industrial gas plants.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment and follow strict safety protocols.
• Reporting to DCS Operator and Shift Supervisor with a focus on production targets.

Required skills

• Operation of Steam Methane Reformer and related hydrogen plant units.
• Distributed Control System (DCS) monitoring.
• Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) participation.
• Emergency response and fire‑water monitor operation.
