Golang System Software Engineer – Containers & Virtualisation

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Golang System Software Engineer to join the LXD team. You will work on the low‑level Go code that bridges the REST API with C libraries managing containers and virtual machines, helping to build a next‑generation private cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and document system‑level Go code.
• Model data, design database schemas and implement storage using dqlite (SQL).
• Maintain code quality through static analysis, unit and system tests.
• Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
• Participate in travel (2‑4 weeks per year) for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Proven experience programming in Go and C.
• Strong knowledge of networking and storage technologies.
• Background in system‑level development, design, and data modelling.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment.
