Pastry Helper

About the role

The Pastry Helper supports the Pastry Chef and bakery team in daily production of pastries, desserts, breads and other baked goods. This entry‑level position involves preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting with baking and decorating tasks to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, weigh and prepare ingredients according to recipes.
• Assist in preparing doughs, batters, creams, fillings and other pastry components.
• Support baking, decorating and finishing of pastries, cakes and desserts.
• Organize workstations, set up equipment and ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Check ingredient quality, freshness and expiry dates.
• Help receive, store and organize pastry supplies.
• Minimize food waste and follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Assist during busy service periods, special events and high‑volume production.
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Pastry Chef.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, hotel, restaurant or catering environment is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pastry and bakery preparation.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions and food safety standards.
• Good teamwork, communication skills and willingness to learn.
• Capability to stand for long periods, lift trays and work flexible shifts including early mornings, weekends and holidays.
