Pharmacovigilance Specialist - NQPPV Backup (Saudi National)

About the role

The Pharmacovigilance Specialist supports the Affiliate Safety Representative and Regional Pharmacovigilance Lead in Saudi Arabia, ensuring AbbVie meets its legal, regulatory, quality and ethical responsibilities for patient safety. The role acts as the back‑up National Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV) and maintains continuous readiness to assume delegated responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the knowledge, training and authority required to act as National QPPV Deputy and provide 24‑hour contact for the Saudi health authority.
• Oversee the performance and compliance of the local pharmacovigilance system, including quality procedures, databases and audit outcomes.
• Develop, implement and maintain local pharmacovigilance procedures aligned with AbbVie corporate standards and Saudi regulations.
• Support intake, processing, medical assessment and timely submission of adverse event reports and periodic safety update reports.
• Coordinate safety data exchange agreements, training for partners and contractors, and ensure all local sources of safety information are captured and reconciled.
