Principal Forward Deployed Engineer (relocation to Spain)

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to design and deliver AI‑native solutions. The role starts in Saudi Arabia with an eventual relocation to Spain. You will build end‑to‑end agentic systems, write production‑grade code, and create evaluation and observability pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship AI‑native systems including agents, workflows, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and integration harnesses.
• Write production‑grade Python code for APIs, data access, and cloud deployments.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts and end‑users through interviews, user‑acceptance testing and workflow observations.
• Shape use cases early in projects and assess technical feasibility.
• Build and run evaluation pipelines to demonstrate system utility.
• Implement robust failure handling with retries, model fallbacks, cost limits and human‑in‑the‑loop actions.
• Capture domain expertise and repeatable workflows to ensure consistent success.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and uphold engineering excellence standards, including TDD and CI/CD.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record in production AI and LLM applications.
• Expert‑level Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or Semantic Kernel.
• Deep knowledge of RAG, vector databases, embeddings, hybrid search and context management.
• Experience deploying on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) using containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to evaluate generative AI quality with custom evaluation frameworks and observability tools.
• Excellent client‑facing skills and ability to work closely with stakeholders.
