Protection ETAP Engineer

About the role

The Protection ETAP Engineer will lead power system modelling, protection coordination and engineering analysis for Al Dhow Energy's transmission and distribution network. Using ETAP and related tools, you will ensure protective devices are correctly set, fault levels are managed and all engineering decisions are data‑driven.

Key responsibilities

• Build, validate and maintain accurate ETAP models of EHV/HV transmission and MV/LV distribution networks.
• Perform load‑flow, short‑circuit (ANSI & IEC), arc‑flash, motor‑starting, harmonic and transient stability studies.
• Develop, review and issue relay settings for over‑current, differential, distance, earth‑fault and busbar protection devices.
• Coordinate protection schemes across transmission‑distribution interfaces to maintain selectivity and minimise outage impact.
• Support commissioning, site acceptance testing and investigate protection mis‑operations.
• Conduct capacity and load‑forecast studies for network expansion, new loads, PV integration and re‑configuration.
• Prepare clear engineering study reports and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, SEC specifications and contractual requirements.
• Maintain configuration records, library of network models, single‑line diagrams and support internal/external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a Power Systems specialization.
• Advanced proficiency with ETAP software.
• Familiarity with SEC specifications and relevant protection standards.
