Quality Engineer

About the role

The Quality Engineer will ensure that gas turbine nozzle components and related parts meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Working within SAECO's engineering environment, you will conduct inspections, verify repairs, and support the preparation of quality documentation for power generation and oil & gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform incoming inspection of gas turbine nozzles and related components to identify defects, wear, erosion, corrosion, cracks, and dimensional issues.
• Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after repair activities.
• Witness and verify dimensional inspections using calibrated measuring instruments.
• Monitor welding, blending, machining, heat treatment, and coating activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
• Inspect coating applications, including bond coats, thermal barrier coatings (TBC), aluminide coatings, and other protective coatings used for turbine components.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare inspection reports in accordance with customer and company requirements.
• Verify repair dimensions, critical tolerances, and profile restoration requirements against repair specifications.
• Ensure all measuring and test equipment used for inspection activities are properly calibrated and within validity.
• Support the preparation and review of final quality dossiers and manufacturing/repair data records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in quality inspection of gas turbine power nozzles repair and refurbishment (GE Frame 5, 6, 7E, 7EA).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.

Required skills

• ASNT Level II certification in Penetrant Testing (PT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification.
• Proficiency with calibrated measuring instruments and dimensional measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of coating inspection, including bond coats, thermal barrier coatings, and aluminide coatings.
• Ability to maintain accurate inspection records and prepare detailed reports.
