Rolling Stock Engineer

About the role

Provide technical oversight and management of rolling stock systems throughout the project lifecycle, from procurement and delivery to testing, acceptance and in‑service operation. The role works closely with system design, track, RCS and requirements teams to ensure rolling stock vehicles meet operational capacity and performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, testing, commissioning, maintenance and operation analysis of rolling stock vehicles.
• Manage interface requirements between rolling stock and fixed infrastructure (signalling, traction power, platform gaps, depot systems).
• Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests at manufacturers and Site Acceptance Tests on the receiving network.
• Monitor fleet performance metrics (MTBF, availability, reliability, maintainability) and report findings.
• Handle warranty claims, investigate failures, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with standards EN 50126, EN 12663, TSI and local regulations.
• Contribute to RAMS analyses, safety cases and system assurance activities.
• Prepare technical reports, performance dashboards and lessons‑learned documentation.
• Support development of maintenance strategies, spare‑parts lists and reliability growth plans.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of rolling stock mechanical and vehicle systems.
• Experience with rolling stock procurement, design review and manufacturing oversight.
• Familiarity with signalling (CBTC/ATC), traction power and depot infrastructure.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
• Proven capability in root‑cause analysis and warranty management.
• Knowledge of EN 50126, EN 12663, TSI standards.
