Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and optimise complex backend services. You will work within a micro‑services architecture, ensuring that our systems are scalable, secure, high‑performing and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of complex features, from technical design through production deployment.
• Design and optimise database interactions, integrations and inter‑service communication.
• Build and operate event‑driven flows with Kafka and enterprise messaging.
• Apply secure coding practices for authentication, authorization, encryption and sensitive data handling.
• Conduct code reviews, uphold engineering standards and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement durable fixes.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment and observability on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Identify technical debt and drive improvements to design and code quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• At least 4 years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Experience with payments or regulated financial services is a plus.
