Senior Signalling Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Signalling Engineer to lead the technical design, installation, testing, integration and commissioning of railway signalling systems for a major project. The role combines hands‑on engineering with specialist leadership to ensure that all signalling works meet safety, constructability and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior technical support and day‑to‑day engineering leadership from design through final handover.
• Review signalling designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, control tables, route tables, equipment and cable schedules, and interface documents for completeness, compliance and constructability.
• Coordinate signalling requirements with track geometry, turnouts, level crossings, civil works, structures, utilities, power supplies and telecommunications.
• Support the S&T Manager in planning resources, priorities, work fronts, technical submissions, long‑lead items and signalling deliverables.
• Identify technical risks, design conflicts, interface gaps and site constraints and recommend mitigation measures.
• Provide technical guidance to signalling engineers, supervisors, technicians, subcontractors and system suppliers.
• Participate in coordination meetings with SAR, the Engineer, designers, vendors, operations and maintenance teams, and third‑party contractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior railway signalling engineering roles, delivering safe and compliant signalling solutions.
• Strong knowledge of EN, UIC and CENELEC standards and Transport General Authority requirements.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage technical risk and interface issues.
• Excellent communication skills for coordination with track, civil, electrical, telecom and operations stakeholders.

Required skills

• Railway signalling system design and integration.
• Experience with interlocking and VICOS interfaces.
• Knowledge of EN, UIC and CENELEC signalling standards.
• Technical risk identification and mitigation.
