Senior Simulator Software Engineer (C/C++)

About the role

Join CAE Middle East as a Simulator Software Engineer and play a critical role in keeping cutting‑edge flight training technology operational at Riyadh Air’s new training centre in Saudi Arabia. This highly technical, hands‑on position involves ownership of software configuration control, diagnosing and resolving complex software and hardware issues, developing system improvements, and supporting simulator performance and certification activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support Flight Simulator Training Devices and Cabin Crew Training Devices; act as point of contact for complex software, hardware, or performance issues, provide technical support, on‑job training, and short‑term dispatch for AOG situations.
• Accountable for Software Configuration Control on all training devices; debug, identify, and resolve issues, develop, test, integrate, and present fixes locally or from CAE‑MTL.
• Monitor simulator issues, update assigned tickets, and participate in project reviews and system design/architecture assessments.
• Provide installation support for software integration, performance‑QTG, and hardware requirements; assist in acceptance processes and Master QTG reviews.
• Serve as main contact for authorities during recurrent evaluations, post‑evaluation status reporting, and related communications.
• Participate in technical meetings, NAA debriefs, SLA reviews with CAE management and customers; coordinate with Customer Service on business‑critical issues and support SLA commitments across the Middle East, with possible international travel.
• Ensure compliance with CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards and exercise duty of care for self and others.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 7‑10 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of CAE software and applications such as CAELIB, STARTEAM, Strive framework, Visual Systems, SIM XXI, Simfinity, Launchpad, and ITMS.
• Proficiency in C, C++, FORTRAN and scripting languages (e.g., Perl).
• Experience with Microsoft development tools for Windows (Visual Studio 6.0 or higher).
• Understanding of simulated systems and avionics interfaces (SIM XXI, CAE R3/R4/R5, 7000 XR) and relevant aviation regulations (EASA, FAA).
