Assistant Category Manager – In‑House Bakery

About the role

The Assistant Category Manager will support the Category Manager in driving the performance of the in‑house bakery portfolio. This role focuses on achieving sales, margin and profitability targets while ensuring optimal product availability and promotional impact.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing category strategies to meet sales and margin goals.
• Analyse sales, pricing and promotional data to identify growth opportunities.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to guarantee timely product delivery and marketing support.
• Monitor inventory levels to minimise out‑of‑stock and overstock situations.
• Support the planning and rollout of promotional campaigns.
• Maintain accurate product and pricing data in the system.
• Prepare performance reports and analyses for management.
• Follow up on supplier agreements, rebates and contractual compliance.
• Work with merchandising and store operations to implement planograms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in category management, retail or related field.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
