Carpentry Team Leader

About the role

The Carpentry Team Leader oversees daily operations of the event fabrication workshop, ensuring scenic elements, custom displays, and furniture are built efficiently, safely, and to high‑quality standards. This hands‑on position bridges the Production Manager, designers, and the workshop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and allocate tasks to a workshop team to meet tight event deadlines.
• Fabricate, assemble and finish scenery, exhibit stands and props using wood, laminates, plastics and occasional metal.
• Interpret technical and CAD drawings, ensuring accurate build‑to‑spec execution.
• Maintain and operate shop equipment such as table saws, routers, CNC machines and pneumatic tools.
• Enforce health‑and‑safety standards, conduct toolbox talks and ensure a 5S‑compliant workspace.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in carpentry scenic construction or high‑pace exhibit fabrication.
• Proven leadership ability with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hands‑on problem‑solving capability in high‑pressure environments.
• Ability to manage material inventory and coordinate with purchasing.

Required skills

• Woodworking and carpentry techniques.
• Reading and interpreting technical/CAD drawings.
• Operating table saws, routers, CNC machines and pneumatic tools.
• Basic use of ERP or inventory management software.
• Microsoft Office/Excel for reporting.
