Chief Medical Officer – Hospital Network

About the role

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will lead the clinical strategy and operations of a multi‑hospital network. Reporting to the executive team and board, the CMO ensures patient safety, quality of care, and innovative delivery across all facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the network’s clinical vision, aligning with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement and evaluate clinical policies, standards and quality‑improvement programs.
• Lead data‑driven performance improvement by analysing clinical metrics and driving targeted initiatives.
• Represent the network in regional and national healthcare forums and maintain relationships with regulators and community partners.
• Oversee physician recruitment, retention and mentorship to build a high‑performing medical team.
• Act as the primary liaison between medical staff and hospital administration to foster collaboration and enhance patient experience.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in a relevant specialty.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive healthcare experience, including at least 10 years in senior leadership within a hospital or health‑system.
• Proven track record in clinical governance, quality improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards and reimbursement policies.
• Strong analytical ability to translate clinical data into actionable strategies.
