Commercial & Contracts Director – Rail Projects

About the role

SYSTRA is looking for a Commercial / Contracts Director to lead the commercial strategy for major rail and metro projects with a key client in Riyadh. You will shape contract approaches, manage risk, and drive value for both the client and joint‑venture partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate and manage railway contracts, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
• Monitor contract performance, manage amendments, change orders and variations.
• Provide strategic advice on complex contractual matters and best practices.
• Identify commercial risks, devise mitigation strategies and maximise opportunities.
• Advise on implications of delays, claims, disputes and safeguard client interests.
• Act as primary commercial contact, maintaining strong relationships with client, JV partners, contractors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• 20+ years of international experience in commercial and contract management, preferably in rail or metro projects.
• Significant experience working in the Middle East.
• Proven ability to lead joint‑venture collaborations and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong understanding of procurement, risk and opportunity management in large infrastructure programmes.
