Customs Investigation Specialist

About the role

The Customs Investigation Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough investigations of smuggling cases that fall outside the scope of administrative resolution. This role ensures that all evidence is verified, case files are complete, and findings are escalated to the Public Prosecution in compliance with legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review seizure reports and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze case facts and evidence to confirm violations using defined investigation methodologies.
• Assess preliminary criminal liability and document structured case findings.
• Prepare and submit case files and supporting documentation for referral to the Public Prosecution.
• Conduct suspect interviews, record statements, and inform suspects of their legal rights.
• Notify the Public Prosecution promptly upon incident occurrence according to protocol.
• Draft formal requests to initiate customs criminal proceedings and obtain approval.
• Maintain accurate, organized records of all investigation activities.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (legal, operations, compliance) to fill gaps in case documentation.
• Escalate complex or unclear cases with proper justification and analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in customs, compliance, investigation, or legal support roles.
• Strong analytical and research abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external authorities.
