Director of Business Development

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to lead commercial strategy for a leading drilling organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape growth initiatives across existing operations and new build projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring commercial alignment on current and future projects.
• Develop and execute business development strategy, including market analysis, pricing, tendering, and contract negotiations.
• Own and manage all commercial drilling contracts, leased assets, and shareholder agreements.
• Maintain senior‑level client relationships and represent the company at industry events.
• Prepare board‑level materials and monthly commercial reports.
• Lead localization, value‑creation initiatives, and vendor development programs.
• Drive corporate social responsibility and talent development in partnership with industry academies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, HSE, and Operational Excellence to meet organizational KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of business development, commercial, or sales experience in the energy sector.
• Mandatory experience with offshore drilling contractors.
• Proven track record in contract negotiations, tender management, and commercial strategy execution.
• Experience in international, multicultural environments is a plus.
• Strategic mindset with ability to influence executive and board levels.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
