Director of Digital Engineering

About the role

The Director of Digital Engineering will provide technical leadership across Qiddiya's core digital product streams, ensuring that platforms, services, and digital capabilities are designed and delivered to the highest engineering standards. This senior role is accountable for creating reusable, scalable, resilient, and observable architectures that can be leveraged across multiple Qiddiya assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical oversight of all digital product streams, aligning solutions with Qiddiya's target architecture and long‑term technology vision.
• Define and enforce engineering principles such as reusability, scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and performance.
• Review, challenge, and validate technical decisions, ensuring clear ownership and governance over architecture.
• Act as senior technical authority on design, code, integration, infrastructure, and operational decisions.
• Challenge vendor proposals and solution designs to retain control over critical engineering choices.
• Drive creation of reusable patterns, components, APIs, and integration approaches for ecosystem‑wide scalability.
• Partner with architecture, product, delivery, DevSecOps, cloud, and security teams to align product delivery with the digital target state.
• Lead and manage Staff Software Engineers embedded in product streams, setting expectations for governance, code quality, and vendor challenge.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership experience in large‑scale digital product engineering.
• Strong ability to govern engineering quality and enforce architectural standards.
• Experience working in multi‑vendor environments and influencing cross‑functional teams.
• Capability to engage at low‑level design, code, integration, and operational decision‑making.
