Director of Internal Audit

About the role

The Internal Audit Director leads the organization’s audit function, providing independent assurance on governance, risk management, internal controls, and compliance. This senior position ensures operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and strategic risk mitigation across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a risk‑based annual internal audit plan.
• Lead, direct, and oversee all internal audit activities, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
• Evaluate internal control systems, assess operational, financial, strategic, and compliance risks, and recommend improvements.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports and present findings to senior management and the Audit Committee.
• Track corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team, fostering a culture of integrity and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with department heads, external auditors, regulators, and key stakeholders to enhance controls and governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, SOCPA, ACCA, or CISA are preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, or compliance, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
