Electrical Permit to Work Coordinator (Level I)

About the role

The Coordinator I for Permit to Work Electrical Isolator will manage electrical isolation and de‑isolation activities across the site, ensuring safe execution of high‑risk work under the PTW system. Working from the control room and on‑site, you will verify isolation documentation, enforce LOTO compliance and hold authority to stop work when safety requirements are not met.

Key responsibilities

• Execute electrical isolations and de‑isolations in line with IMI Electrical Isolation and LOTO procedures.
• Prepare, verify and implement switching programmes, identifying all energy sources, isolation points and stored‑energy hazards.
• Apply and control LOTO devices, maintain key control and ensure only authorised personnel handle personal locks.
• Verify zero‑energy state before work starts and document results on isolation certificates.
• Issue, update and maintain electrical isolation certificates and registers, activating permits only after verification.
• Track long‑term and complex isolations, ensuring continuity across shift hand‑overs.
• Conduct field verification of isolation points, tags, barriers and PTW postings, correcting any discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Issuing and Performing Authorities to manage SIMOPS conflicts and prevent inadvertent energisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 108 months (9 years) of experience in electrical isolation, LOTO and PTW processes.
• Hold relevant certifications such as PTW, OSHA 30‑hour, NEBOSH Process Safety, NEBOSH IGC and IOSH.
• Ability to work both in a control‑room environment and on‑site field locations.
