Electrical Technician – PV Solar (Utility‑Scale)

About the role

The Electrical Technician will ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation and maintenance of utility‑scale solar PV plants and associated substations in Saudi Arabia. The role requires compliance with Saudi electrical standards and HSE regulations while supporting both day‑to‑day operations and project commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV modules, inverters, SCBs, UPS, transformers and switchgear (11 kV–220 kV).
• Monitor SCADA systems, resolve alarms, and troubleshoot DC field and communication faults.
• Conduct HT cable diagnostics (Hipot, Online PD, IR) and IR testing on HT and DC cables.
• Maintain robotic cleaning systems and sun‑tracking mechanisms.
• Support erection, testing and commissioning of transformers, HT/LT panels and cable systems.
• Review electrical drawings, coordinate QA/QC inspections and lead commissioning activities per SEC and NEOM standards.
• Enforce LOTO and Permit‑to‑Work procedures, conduct safety briefings and maintain audit documentation.
• Supervise technical teams, manage shift handovers and coordinate with contractors and vendors.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in solar PV operations and maintenance.
• Experience with robotic module cleaning systems and PV tracking mechanisms.
• Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Valid Electrical License (preferably transferable to Saudi Council of Engineers).
• Preferred certifications: Electrical Wireman License, First Aid, Fire Safety, H2S, HV & EHV Cable Installation & Testing, JSA, HIRA, Permit‑to‑Work.

• Interpretation of electrical schematics and protection/control circuits.
• CRP panel and protection system troubleshooting.
• LOTO procedures and HSE compliance.
• Robotic cleaning system maintenance and sun‑tracking mechanism support.
• HV & EHV cable installation and testing.
