About the role
The General Practitioner in the ICU provides comprehensive medical care to in‑patients, ensuring high‑quality treatment aligned with evidence‑based medicine, professional ethics, and Saudi Ministry of Health regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Take patient histories, perform physical examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop initial management plans on admission.
- Conduct daily rounds for all in‑patients in the ICU and coordinate care with consultants and senior registrars.
- Participate in on‑call duties, morning reports, and endorsement meetings alongside senior staff.
- Execute diagnostic procedures such as bone‑marrow aspiration, lumbar puncture, and other bedside interventions after senior approval.
- Respond to consultations from ER, Medicine, Hemodialysis, and other units under ICU regulations.
- Prepare problem lists, discharge summaries, death reports, and special patient reports as required.
- Educate patients and families according to the hospital’s patient‑family education policy.
Required profile
- Minimum of 24 months of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
- Medical degree and appropriate licensing to practice in Saudi Arabia (implicit from role).
