Head of Internal Audit – Insurance (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia)

About the role

We are seeking a senior audit leader to head the internal audit function of a leading insurance company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role will drive governance, risk management and control frameworks across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the internal audit department, ensuring effective governance, risk management and control frameworks.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive, risk‑based internal audit plan aligned with SAMA regulations and corporate strategy.
• Provide independent assurance to the Audit Committee and senior management on internal controls and business processes.
• Manage, mentor and develop the internal audit team to deliver high‑quality audit engagements.
• Review financial, operational, compliance and IT processes to identify risks, control weaknesses and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with external auditors, regulators and other assurance providers to ensure audit efficiency and compliance.
• Report findings and recommendations to executive management and the Audit Committee, driving timely corrective actions.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging risks, regulatory changes and best practices in insurance and financial services.
• Promote a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability across all business units.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred).
• Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, ACCA or CISA.
• 10–15 years of audit experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of SAMA regulations, risk management frameworks and internal control systems.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional audit teams and interacting with Board Audit Committees.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• High integrity, analytical mindset and strategic thinking.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
