In‑House Counsel – Real Estate & Construction

About the role

FTG Development is seeking an experienced in‑house lawyer to join its Legal Affairs team in Riyadh. Reporting to the Director of Legal Affairs, you will be the primary legal reference for the company’s real‑estate and construction projects, overseeing contracts, insurance, risk management and external counsel coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate construction and development contracts, including FIDIC‑based main contracts, sub‑contracts, consultancy and EPC agreements.
• Provide legal advice on construction insurance programmes such as Contractors' All Risks (CAR/EAR), third‑party liability and professional indemnity.
• Manage contractual claims, variation orders, extensions of time, delay and disruption issues, liquidated damages and back‑charges.
• Negotiate broader commercial agreements including procurement, services, leases, NDAs and partnership contracts.
• Advise on commercial, corporate and labour law matters, ensuring compliance with Saudi regulations.
• Support corporate governance, company structuring and regulatory compliance.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks across projects and operations.
• Liaise with and manage external counsel for arbitration or litigation support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); a master’s degree or professional qualification is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in‑house.
• At least 3 years directly in real‑estate development, construction or infrastructure projects.

Required skills

• FIDIC contract drafting and negotiation.
• Construction insurance analysis (CAR/EAR, professional indemnity).
• Contract claims handling and risk mitigation.
