Internal Auditor – Capital Projects

About the role

The Internal Auditor – Capital Projects provides independent, risk‑based assurance over construction initiatives. The role evaluates governance, controls, contract management, procurement and compliance to support effective project delivery and organizational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute internal audits of construction projects in line with the approved audit plan and professional standards.
• Assess project governance, financial controls, execution effectiveness and compliance with policies, contracts and regulations.
• Review contract management processes, including change orders, claims, variations and payments, and recommend improvements.
• Audit tendering and procurement activities to ensure transparency, fairness and adherence to procurement policies.
• Conduct risk assessments for operational, financial, contractual and compliance risks and evaluate mitigation measures.
• Participate in developing annual risk‑based audit plans, prepare audit programs, gather evidence and document findings.
• Prepare clear audit reports, communicate observations to project management, obtain responses and follow up on corrective actions.

• Deliver planned activities on schedule, using resources efficiently to meet operational targets.
• Provide periodic reports detailing deviations and execution of planned tasks.
