National Identity Associate Teacher (Temporary)

About the role

The National Identity Associate Teacher supports classroom learning in a junior school environment, ensuring student safety, well‑being and academic progress. This temporary position works closely with the lead teacher and the Junior School Principal to deliver high‑quality education and co‑curricular activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, stimulating classroom environment and supervise playtime and lunchtimes.
• Prepare and organise classroom materials, bulletin boards and duplication of resources.
• Support teachers through small‑group and whole‑class instruction, covering up to 25 lessons per week.
• Apply translanguaging strategies to promote bilingualism across the curriculum.
• Provide lesson cover, CCAPS duties and assist with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Participate in training days, staff meetings and other school events.
• Promote subjects and co‑curricular opportunities, supporting camps, educational visits and whole‑school activities.
• Safeguard children by following school policies and supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in junior schools, working with diverse learning, social and psychological needs.
• Strong relationship‑building, flexibility and ability to set high expectations.
• Capacity to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Google Suite).
