Pharmacy Encoder – Hospital Pharmacy Support

About the role

The Pharmacy Encoder supports the pharmacy department of a hospital by managing prescription data, coordinating medicine movements, and ensuring accurate record‑keeping. This position works closely with pharmacists, clerical staff and other hospital units to maintain smooth pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Check and enter prescriptions, including take‑home orders, and categorize them by financial type.
• Request medicines from the Pharmacy Store and track daily statistics of dispensed items.
• Handle stock movements between the Pharmacy Store, inpatient pharmacy, wards, patients and other departments.
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties, answer calls courteously and relay messages.
• Ensure medicines are correctly charged to patients by verifying pharmacist and clerk entries.
• Maintain departmental records, files, and updated policy documents.
• Manage the flow of OPD and take‑home prescriptions and coordinate deliveries from suppliers.
• Update patient accounts daily and communicate with relevant departments.
• Comply with hospital dress code and perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Diploma in Secretarial studies or at least two years of college education.
• Minimum two years of clerical or hospital‑related experience.
• Fluent in spoken and written English, able to serve both Arabic and non‑Arabic speakers.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
