Safety Director

About the role

We are seeking a Safety / HSE Director to lead the Health, Safety & Environment function for a major construction project in Saudi Arabia. The role will ensure compliance with company standards, local regulations and international HSE requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project HSE strategy, policies and procedures.
• Lead and manage the HSE team across all project areas.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi regulations, client requirements and international HSE standards.
• Monitor HSE performance, KPIs, inspections, audits and corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, incident prevention and emergency response programmes.
• Investigate major incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure contractors and subcontractors meet approved HSE requirements.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and management reviews.
• Promote a strong safety culture and deliver training, toolbox talks and emergency drills.
• Prepare and present HSE performance reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or engineering.
• 15+ years of HSE experience, including senior roles on mega‑construction projects.
• Proven experience with Tier 1 international/main contractors.
• Experience in high‑rise, hospitality, mixed‑use or infrastructure projects in the GCC.
• Strong knowledge of international HSE standards and construction safety practices.
