Senior Accountant – Costing & Business Finance

About the role

Salasa is looking for a commercially‑minded Senior Accountant to partner closely with warehouse Operations and Finance. The role translates day‑to‑day warehouse activity into reliable financial information and actionable insights that drive pricing, productivity, capacity and profitability decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed costing models for all warehouse functions, including inbound receiving, QC, put‑away, storage, picking, packing, packaging, manpower, utilities, technology, last‑mile delivery, rent, depreciation and other cost drivers.
• Calculate and monitor cost per inbound item, stored item/bin, outbound item, order, shipment, customer and overall warehouse activity.
• Produce customer‑level direct costs, cost‑to‑serve, resource consumption, contribution margin and capacity usage.
• Design and apply allocation methodologies for shared warehouse costs using operational cost drivers.
• Collaborate with Operations to measure productivity metrics such as items/orders per labor hour, manpower cost per item/order, packaging cost, bin utilisation, throughput per sqm, courier cost per shipment and overall capacity utilisation.
• Reconcile headcount, attendance, productive hours, output and manpower cost; analyse permanent, outsourced and temporary labour, overtime, shifts and idle capacity.
• Build utilisation and capacity models and quantify financial impact of under‑utilisation, inventory profiles, throughput changes and staffing requirements.
• Prepare weekly and monthly operational finance dashboards and variance analyses covering volume, pricing, productivity, manpower, packaging, courier, utilisation and other key cost drivers.
• Provide costing analysis to support pricing, contract renewals, customer negotiations and operational improvement initiatives.
• Continuously validate model assumptions against actual performance and improve data quality, controls and reporting automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as CMA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent is preferred.
• Approximately 6‑8 years of relevant experience in cost accounting or management accounting.
