Senior Customs Evasion Investigator

About the role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a Senior Customs Evasion Investigator to lead and coordinate complex investigations into customs fraud, evasion and related breaches. The role operates with minimal supervision, following established guidelines to produce detailed reports and support the Authority’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an operational investigation plan aligned with ZATCA’s overall strategy.
• Prioritise and classify incoming investigation cases, creating system records and scheduling investigators.
• Conduct in‑depth investigations of customs evasion, fraud and breaches using techniques such as post‑clearance checks, declaration reviews, valuation analysis and restriction assessments.
• Collaborate with internal auditors and other stakeholders to gather evidence and determine root causes.
• Monitor investigation activities for consistency, recommend procedural adjustments, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Review objections and appeals on investigation decisions, perform reassessments and drive timely settlements.
• Prepare final assessment reports, record findings in the system and contribute to future reference documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in customs investigations, fraud detection or related criminal investigations.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures and deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in evidence evaluation.
• Excellent written communication for reporting and documentation.
