Streaming Platform Administrator (Apache Kafka)

About the role

The Streaming Platform Administrator is responsible for the operation, security, monitoring, and optimisation of Apache Kafka environments. You will ensure high availability, scalability and performance of enterprise‑wide event‑streaming platforms that support real‑time data integration across regulated sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure and maintain Kafka clusters in production and non‑production environments.
• Manage brokers, topics, partitions, replication factors, retention policies and performance settings.
• Implement security controls such as TLS encryption, SASL authentication, ACLs and Kerberos integration.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, logging and dashboards to provide real‑time visibility of platform health.
• Plan and execute disaster‑recovery strategies, backups, multi‑cluster replication and fail‑over testing.
• Perform capacity planning, scaling, performance tuning, upgrades, patching and routine maintenance.
• Develop runbooks, troubleshooting guides and recovery documentation.
• Support incident management, root‑cause analysis and continuous service improvement.
• Collaborate with application teams, data engineers and infrastructure groups to onboard new workloads.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka or equivalent certification.
• At least 4 years of hands‑on experience administering production Kafka clusters in high‑availability, mission‑critical environments.
• Experience in regulated industries such as banking, fintech or telecommunications.
