Technician-2 (Lean Assembly & Packing)

About the role

The Technician-2 plays an important role in driving Lean implementation on the shop floor: identifying improvement opportunities, supporting standard work, reducing waste and improving process flow and operational performance. The role covers nozzle hardware installations, machine operation, blasting and masking, and packing.

Key responsibilities

• Install nozzle hardware, repair nozzles, operate machines, perform blasting and Dymax masking according to approved work instructions, process specifications and engineering requirements.
• Carry out packing activities in line with approved procedures and packaging requirements.
• Read and interpret work instructions and quality forms to ensure accurate assembly and packing.
• Record and maintain accurate process data, inspect parts before and after assembly and packing, and use tools, fixtures and packaging materials safely.
• Follow Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets, and keep the work area clean and organised under 5S.
• Apply Lean principles, take part in problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective actions, and suggest improvements in safety, quality, cycle time, flow and waste.
• Work within takt time and cycle time expectations, use shop floor systems such as ELM and SmartShop where required, and comply with quality policies and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma, technical college degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a technician, manufacturing, assembly, packing or industrial role.
• Desired: 2 years' experience with mechanical assembly, packing and material handling, and with gas turbine components or other precision aerospace/industrial parts.
• Desired: experience in problem solving or process improvement.
