Field Service Engineer – Electrical Testing & Commissioning

About the role

The Field Service Engineer will lead testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of high‑voltage and low‑voltage substation equipment. You will work closely with customers to ensure safe, compliant, and timely energisation of electrical installations.

Key responsibilities

• Study contractual scope, specifications, standards and electrical schematics for each site.
• Prepare test procedures, schedules and required equipment, incorporating manufacturer recommendations.
• Execute testing and commissioning of protection relays, vacuum reclosers, pad‑mounted transformers, instrument transformers, surge arresters, switchboards, grounding systems and related equipment.
• Document test results, issue certification for energisation, and maintain as‑built drawings.
• Investigate malfunctions, implement corrective actions and coordinate outage requirements with customers.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules, QA/QC processes and industry standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power & Controls or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in testing, commissioning or design of substation equipment.
• Expert understanding of electrical systems and industry standards.
• Ability to read single‑line diagrams, DC schematics and wiring diagrams.
