Assistant Fire Commissioner – Strategic Leadership Role

About the role

The Assistant Fire Commissioner supports the Director of Prepare and Support Services in delivering strategic leadership for fire and rescue operations across the Red Sea destination, ensuring safety, preparedness, and emergency response standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert direction on fire studies, fire and safety communication, public warning systems, and hazardous materials management.
• Lead the corporate services and preparation functions within the department.
• Develop and execute fire strategies, presenting reports and recommendations to senior management.
• Anticipate future operational needs and advise on acquisition of equipment, technology, personnel, and emergency resources.
• Act as principal advisor on regulatory and compliance matters, aligning with local and international legislation.
• Oversee all inter‑company agreements, service level agreements, contracts, purchase orders and requests.
• Lead the department’s finance and accounting function, managing budget, transactions, invoices and cost‑recovery plans.
• Oversee development, enforcement and continuous review of health, safety and fire‑related policies.
• Provide leadership for fire investigations, safety audits and inspections, integrating lessons learned into policy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic leadership within fire, rescue or public safety services.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, hazardous materials handling and public warning systems.
• Experience overseeing finance, budgeting and cost‑recovery processes.
• Ability to advise senior leadership on regulatory compliance and emergency preparedness.
• Competence in managing contracts, inter‑company agreements and service level agreements.
• Track record of developing and enforcing health, safety and fire policies.
