Assistant Professor - Health Professions Education (MPHE)

About the role

Sulaiman Al Rajhi University (SRU), a leading university in the Al-Qassim province of Saudi Arabia, is hiring an Assistant Professor in Health Professions Education (MPHE). The university partners with Maastricht University and uses Problem-Based Learning and student-centered approaches to train future healthcare leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate students in medical education, learning theories, professionalism, communication skills and related subjects, and facilitate PBL, TBL and small-group sessions
• Support clinical and non-clinical faculty in innovative teaching methods
• Take part in curriculum design, review, mapping and quality improvement, and develop learning outcomes and materials
• Design and review assessment tools such as MCQs, OSCE / OSPE and workplace-based assessments, and analyze results
• Deliver faculty workshops on teaching effectiveness, assessment, feedback, e-learning and academic advising
• Support accreditation (NCAAA, WFME) and quality assurance committees and audits
• Publish scholarly work in medical education, supervise student projects and take part in academic committees and community events

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree: must be MBBS
• Master's or PhD in Health Professions Education or Medical Education; PhD strongly preferred, but a Master's with substantial HPE experience is considered
• Minimum 3 years of university-level teaching, preferably in a graduate or health sciences context
• Demonstrated publications in peer-reviewed HPE journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science
• English proficiency, as all instruction is in English
• Active or prior clinical practice is an advantage

Required skills

• Expertise in adult learning theory, competency-based education, curriculum design and program evaluation
• Research and publication record in HPE
