CCTV Operator - Drilling Operations

About the role

H&P is looking for a CCTV Operator for drilling operations in Saudi Arabia. The role involves monitoring live drilling rig operations remotely via CCTV during 12-hour day or night shifts, spotting unsafe acts and hazards in real time, and escalating risks through established reporting channels.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor live drilling rig operations remotely via CCTV during 12-hour day or night shifts.
• Watch critical and high-risk activities such as casing runs, rig moves, lifting operations, well control and maintenance work.
• Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, procedural deviations and equipment positioning issues, and intervene immediately while communicating safety concerns to rig leadership.
• Escalate unaddressed risks and identify, track and report Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) potential events and near misses.
• Prepare CCTV observation reports with photographic and video evidence, maintain monitoring logs and carry out detailed shift handovers.
• Analyse safety trends and recommend improvements, and support HSE Assurance teams with weekly reporting and trend analysis.

Required profile

• Former Rig Manager, Night Rig Manager or senior drilling operations leader.
• Minimum 5-8 years of land drilling industry experience.
• Strong track record in HSE leadership, incident prevention and safety culture development.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling rig operations, equipment and high-risk activities.
• Experience monitoring critical operations such as tripping, casing running, cementing, rig-up/down, pressure testing and heavy lifting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CCTV monitoring systems, MS Office and digital reporting tools.
• Understanding of Safe Systems of Work: Permit to Work, Job Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment, Lockout/Tagout, DROPS prevention, work at height, confined space entry, safe lifting, hazardous area controls and PPE.
• Ability to recognise line-of-fire, red-zone, lifting, pressure testing and well control hazards.
• Strong communication skills for clear, timely safety notifications.
