Cost Controller - Mechanical Projects (Oil & Gas, Shutdown/Turnaround)

About the role

Abis is hiring a Cost Controller for mechanical projects in the oil and gas sector, focused on shutdown and turnaround (SD/TA) work. The role is based on site in Al Jubail and covers monitoring, controlling and reporting project costs, working with the project management team and advising management when forecasts exceed the approved budget.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and update cost estimates so that costs stay within expected ranges, and prepare and analyse comparisons of scope, quantities and cost data between forecasts and budgets.
• Define project needs for cost control according to contractual requirements, objectives and company procedures, and coordinate with HR, payroll, accounting and finance to track costs accurately.
• Maintain updated final project forecasts and expenditure forecasts, and advise management proactively when forecasts exceed the approved budget, recommending corrective actions.
• Analyse cost reports, extract data for management reporting, and prepare monthly cost engineering reports.
• Identify critical areas and inform management about project delays, and work with the project management team to resolve issues and ensure project completion.
• Act as group/unit leader for the cost portion of shutdown/turroundaround, LFC/MFC/EPC contracts, and review and analyse claims and change orders, taking part in contract negotiations when required.
• Attend project meetings and client discussions if needed, and use statistical tools for cost analysis and risk assessment.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineer or finance/accounting background from a recognised university; Master's degree in engineering or MBA is a plus.
• Experience related to oil and gas maintenance, shutdown and turnaround.
• 6-8 years of experience in costing and budgeting, especially in the oil and gas sector for shutdown and turnaround.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics AX 365 ERP.
• Use of statistical tools for cost metrics analysis and risk analysis.
