About the role

The Executive Director leads a high‑performing team at a long‑term care home in Edmonton, ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and high‑quality care. This senior position is responsible for strategic planning, operational management, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all operations, budgets, and expenditures, aligning them with funding envelopes and organizational policies.
• Drive financial stewardship, ensuring the home operates within budget and promotes fiscal accountability across departments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, regional support, and community partners to enhance resident well‑being.
• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, collective agreements, and Extendicare standards.
• Provide hands‑on support to managers, front‑line staff, residents, and families, building capacity and leading by example.
• Foster a positive culture that respects the Resident Bill of Rights and promotes employee engagement.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives and develop talent through education and succession planning.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in health‑care or long‑term care settings.
• Strong track record in financial management and budget oversight.
• Deep knowledge of provincial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to build high‑performing teams and drive employee engagement.
