Firefighter – Emergency Response

About the role

Ma'aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) is looking for a qualified Firefighter to join its Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) team. You will protect people, assets and the environment by responding to fire, rescue, hazardous‑materials and medical emergencies across both surface and underground mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire, rescue, HazMat, medical and other emergency incidents in surface and underground environments.
• Perform structural, industrial, vehicle and wildland firefighting following approved procedures.
• Provide standby support during high‑risk activities, shutdowns, confined‑space work and hot‑work operations.
• Inspect, operate and maintain fire trucks, pumps, foam systems, hose lines, SCBA and other rescue equipment.
• Conduct fire‑prevention inspections of buildings, workshops, fuel facilities and underground sites.
• Participate in emergency drills, simulations, pre‑incident planning and the Journey to Zero safety program.
• Complete incident reports, equipment inspection records and maintain accurate training logs.

Required profile

• Relevant certification or experience in industrial or mine firefighting.
• Ability to work shift patterns, be on standby and respond to call‑outs at short notice.
• Strong commitment to safety, zero‑harm principles and teamwork.

Required skills

• Firefighting techniques for structural, industrial, vehicle and wildland scenarios.
• Hazardous‑materials (HazMat) response.
• First Aid / Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Self‑Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) operation.
• Operation and maintenance of fire trucks, pumps, foam systems and portable firefighting equipment.
• Fire‑prevention inspection and hazard identification.
