General Manager, Operational Readiness Team (ORT) – Uranium Mining

About the role

The General Manager of the Operational Readiness Team (ORT) will lead the preparation of a uranium and rare‑earth elements processing plant from design through to safe, reliable startup and ramp‑up. This senior position ensures that all operational, maintenance, laboratory, quality and support requirements are embedded early so the plant can be handed over ready to operate at target performance.

Key responsibilities

• Represent operations during design reviews to embed operability, maintainability, safety, quality control and utility requirements.
• Coordinate with project and EPCM teams to secure systems, documents, spares, tools and consumables for construction readiness.
• Lead commissioning, startup and performance stabilization, ensuring safe ramp‑up while meeting recovery and product quality targets.
• Define the future operating model, shift coverage, headcount and critical roles for operations and maintenance.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, competency matrices, training plans and certification for operators, maintenance and laboratory staff.
• Develop and implement SOPs, maintenance strategies, laboratory procedures, quality systems, emergency response plans and handover governance.

Required profile

• 20+ years of experience in mining, minerals processing, hydrometallurgy or chemical process industries.
• Proven track record across the full project lifecycle: design, construction, commissioning, startup and operations.
• Strong understanding of process operations, product quality management, laboratory controls, maintenance readiness and ramp‑up risks.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead operational teams and conduct workforce planning.
• Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mineral Processing or a related engineering discipline.
